The green Sukabumi stone is also known as Pedra Hijau or Bali stone because of its very wide use in the construction of swimming pools on the island of the Gods.
It is extracted in the province of Sukabumi from where it takes its name, on the island of Java in Indonesia, a few thousand kilometers from Bali. Each stone is then worked in local workshops or exported to Bali. (I personally selected my suppliers on site in Sukabumi for their quality and their ability to respond to tailor-made requests)
This is a hard volcanic stone that is as resistant as it is surprising. Due to the presence of Zeolite in its composition (mineral formed of silicate crystals), it is said to have purifying properties. Thanks to its ability to filter heavy metals, contaminants, etc., zeolite complements the actions of the pool filter and thus helps keep the water clean and clear. It is also naturally non-slip, resistant to temperature variations, including frost (except in frequent extreme conditions).
Its mechanical resistance and high resistance to water absorption (3.38%) make it a stone of choice for use in humid environments (swimming pool, bathroom, exterior cladding) with intensive use.
In its natural state, Sukabumi stone is a pale sage green to sage green color with a more or less intense speckled appearance depending on the variations in its quartz, iron oxide and other content as it forms.
When in contact with water, it takes on a magnificent emerald color reminiscent of Indonesian coral waters.
For joints, sage green is perfect.
It combines perfectly with another natural stone: Black Lava (Lava Stone) to add contrast and depth.
